Louisville Historic Tours - Ghost Walk
I was invited to a private tour of an old mansion in Old Lousiville a couple weeks ago. I was told they would be reading ghost stories. This intrigued me so naturally-- like the curious little lamb I am-- I went. I was not disappointed. There I met David Domine, a local author of several "ghost story" books all about Old Louisville. I picked up a copy of his latest book, Voodoo Days at La Casa Fabulosa and while he signed it for me, he mentioned he would be leading a Ghost Tour a little later throughout the neighborhood. Once again, my curiosity got the best of me. What a fun little experience that was! Filled with real history, and real tales of sightings and strange occurrences that took place in or around these homes. It was fabulous!
The one that intrigued me the most, he referred to simply as "The House in Old Louisville", which tells a story so chilling, it will leave you unsettled and disturbed. The house is also known as "Louisville's American Horror Story house" and if you take the tour and do your research, you'll quickly discover why. The story is so engaging and dark, he's writing a book on that house alone as we speak. Find out more about it here.
The tours tell a lot of history, architecture and involve quite a bit of story telling from David regarding historical facts or stories that have been told by the original owners and handed down. Some stories are his personal experiences as he has lived in at least a couple of the homes he tells you about.
This Queen highly recommends you take a walk through Old Louisville with David Domine, pick up a book or two of his and learn some spooky history on one of the most haunted neighborhoods in America...right here in Louisville!!
