behind The Queens

VERITY VICE - MISS LILY WHITE

Born with a love for the macabre, a driving passion to create, and an entrepreneurial spirit: Verity has always chosen her own dark and curious paths. Working several jobs to put herself through college, she graduated from The University of Louisville with a BA in writing and literature. She has written for The Louisville Poets Guild, which has enjoyed several publications of her work, fell in love with vintage motorcycles, upstarted her boutique cleaning company: Athena Clean, and became the designer/director of The Baxter Avenue Morgue Haunted Theater Experience (2001-2007). After many successful years in the haunt business, she turned her focus toward music, specifically the upright bass. Verity created the band Vice Tricks with her partner; and has worked steadily at becoming a powerful, self made musician. You may find her killing on any number of stages with her band Vice Tricks in Louisville and all over the country....

HILARY REINEN - FIONA VANERLAY

Hilary Reinen family began working the funereal business in 2008 when she was ten years old.. Being involved in a morbid business has influenced her greatly in only the best of ways. Growing up, Hilary used to perform for groups put together by the funeral home for widows and widowers. She has always had a very good understanding and respect for death, while not fearing it. Being comfortable with death has opened up Hilary's eyes to different possibilities of afterlife and tradition. She studied world religions in college  and is open to numerous ideas and possibilities, including the fact that she is a medium that has been known to see and communicate with spirits on the other side. She studies Tarot Cards, alchemy, and dabbles in palm reading.

While horror films have always been her favorite, she also found a love for musical theatre, which she majored in, and has performed in many productions over the last several years. She has branched out, having become involved in writing a short horror film, and, in 2012, appeared in her first horror filme, “Playing Murder.” As a seasoned performer and “triple threat”, being able to act, dance, and sing, Hilary continues to perform on stage today with the Va Va Vixens, a top notch burlesque group, Hilary is a fan of all things creepy and morbid, and wants to inspire others to be more open to things beyond the world we know.

SARA SANTANA - ISOBEL ORLOK / GLAMOUR MAKEUP ARTIST

This professional makeup artist and all around spookstress was drawn to the macabre from a young age - growing up on films and tv shows like Beetlejuice, Young Frankenstein and The Munsters. As an adult, Sara developed an appreciation for classic horror and the culture that came along with it - working at haunted houses, traveling to conventions and even acting in a few odd independent films (which she hopes will never see the light of day.) While living in Los Angeles, her horror host character (Isobel Orlok) was brought to life out of Sara's love for classic horror hosts Vampira and Zacherley 'The Cool Ghoul’ and she began her own You-Tube channel.  She's now so pleased to have the opportunity to bring her unique monster-kid take on all things horror to The Real Scream Queens in Louisville this haunting season!

LEE ANN COOPER - VIOLET RAZOR / COSTUMER

Lee Ann Cooper has a deep love for Halloween. She started her haunting journey at the ripe age of fifteen with the famous Culbertson Mansion in New Albany, Indiana. She remained an active member of their team for six years. While working for them she specialized in special effects makeup, assisting in designing and building the attraction and also worked inside the haunt as a spook. She then moved on to help with ‘Beyond the Darkness’ at the infamous, some would say, the scariest place in the world, Waverly Hills Sanitarium. While working there she helped with building the attraction and working as a spook once again.  In the dark. At Waverly Hills.  Need we say more?  Lee Ann went on to help with some minor building for Industrial Nightmare though she never worked inside that particular attraction. She now focuses her energies into the Va Va Vixens Burlesque troupe in Louisville, Kentucky. She has taken the name Dita DeVille and acts as their emcee, write scripts and performs. She is an integral part of their costume department and designs and creates custom costumes on the side, including her own Violet Razor costume, our own Greek Goddess, Kassandra and co-created Marie Annette.  She is very excited for a new adventure with the Real Scream Queens and firmly believes that Halloween is not a season, it's a way of life.

RON BLAIR

CREATIVE GENIUS WRITER/VOCAL PERFORMER

Our writer, audio producer, voice performer, and all around great guy to have around, Ron A Blair, is a man of many obsessions, all of which came together in the performance of his duties here at Real Scream Queens. Ron began writing as freshman in high school and has written creatively every day since then. The year after he began his journey as an amateur writer, Ron stepped on the theatrical stage for the first time and discovered his other passion, performing. Having desired to work in film his entire life, Ron began his journey as a writer and performer, while still maintaining a deep love for all things horror.

After having performed in several theatrical productions during the early to mid-90s, and majoring in drama at Western Kentucky University, along with Scream Queen Amelia Word, Ron decided to take a break from the stage and began focusing on the haunted attraction industry. Ron would dedicate his life to performing, designing, and providing leadership at the legendary Nightmare Forest haunted attraction at Otter Creek Park in Louisville, Ky. While at Nightmare Forest, Ron won multiple awards as a performer and employee.

Once his second child was born in 2002, Ron retired from the haunted attraction industry to focus on writing and theatrical performance once again. It was during this time that Ron co-founded Dark Winter Studios which released such acclaimed short genre films as “Souled” and “ForEver”. He spent the next decade writing for such publications as Planet Chaos, Fish Taco, Hacker’s Source, and Sposa, the Canadian bridal magazine (I know, right?!? WTF?!? - RAB). He also gained minor fame as a producer, writer, casting director, and performer, being credited in such films as Tim Ritter’s Twisted Illusions 2 and Reconciled Through the Christ, Mountain Mafia, Santa Claus Vs. The Zombies, Wingman, Almost Nothing Good Happens, The Zombie Movie, Graverobbers from Outer Space, and many, many more under his stage name of Reaper M Jones.

In 2009, Ron was urged by his then ten year old daughter to return to the stage. Ron began to focus on stage performance, playing such iconic roles on stage as Herbie in Gypsy, Harding in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Mr. Mushnik in Little Shop of Horrors, Jonathan Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace, the titular character in Macbeth and Tito Merelli in Lend Me a Tenor at The Hardin County Performing Arts Center Pro-Ams, and as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, Fagin in Oliver, Edna Turnblad in Hairspray and as The Narrator in multiple productions of The Rocky Horror Show at the award winning Hardin County Playhouse. He also combined his love of writing with his love for the stage and horror, when he co-created and co-wrote “An HCP Halloween”, “Another HCP Halloween”, “Telethon: The Cure to End World Boredom”, and “Telethon 2: Night of the Zombies”.

Since his triumphant return to the stage, Ron has won multiple awards, including back to back Patron Favorite awards at the famed Hardin County Playhouse in Elizabethtown, as well as being honored by the Kentucky Theatre Alliance when he won “Best Performance by a Male Actor” for The Hardin County Playhouse’s powerful production of “The Laramie Project”. Ron continues to perform on stage and film, and continues to write for both on a constant basis. He will soon be appearing in his fourth production of The Rocky Horror Show, this time portraying Dr. Scott, at The Hardin County Playhouse, as well as a production of The Elephant Man, along with his long time friend, “sister”, and Real Scream Queen, Amelia Word. He is also the supervising route manager of the award winning Elizabethtown Ghost Walk, and co-founded the Hardin County Playhouse Youth Dramatics program which provides instruction in all facets of theatrical production, script writing, play selection, and theatre management.

Ron currently resides in his hometown of Rineyville, Ky. with his wife, Hardin County Playhouse House Manager, Michelle, and his two children, MacKenzie and Caleb, both of them also performers and storytellers. When Ron isn’t working hard to educate and entertain, both on stage and with Good People Films, which he co-founded in 2012, he enjoys traveling, comic books, studying history and culture, cooking, video games, and youth mentoring, his fourth and fifth passios. Ron takes great pride in having been a youth mentor for the past several years, and would like to give a special shout-out to his “second son” Dakota Jones, who is currently studying special effects make-up at the Cinema Make-Up School in Hollywood, Ca.
